Fertility Drugs vs. FertilCare for Women:

Fertility drugs tend to be the "go-to" treatment option for trying-to-conceive women experiencing ovulation disorders. Commonly prescribed fertility drugs (like Clomid) are effective in encouraging ovulation; it's estimated that around 80% of women taking Clomid will ovulate during their first treatment cycle.

Fertility drugs do, however, come with their share of attendant side effects - vaginal dryness, blurring of vision, breast pain, etc. And "reality television" has ensured we're all aware of the increased risk of multiple births; multiples, (either twins, triplets, or higher-order) occur with considerably greater prevalence when taking prescription fertility drugs. Perhaps most alarming, however, is the recent study data linking fertility drug usage to higher incidences of autism.

Undoubtedly, there is a portion of the population that will require prescription - and/or surgical - medical intervention in order to successfully achieve pregnancy. That said, doesn't it behoove us to first explore the safe, natural options that are available to us for encouraging regular ovulation and improving our chances of conceiving?

FertilCare for Women is a natural supplement designed by leading fertility expert. It contains herbal ingredients that have been shown to exert a normalizing influence on key reproductive hormones, including progesterone, prolactin, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and estrogen. On the market since 2003 and used by tens of thousands of women,

FertilCare for Women has no known side effects.

The following are actual reviews submitted by FertilCare users who have also taken prescription fertility drugs.

Endometriosis and FertiCare:

Endometriosis is a common cause of female fertility issues, and affects up to

15% of all women of reproductive age. Endometriosis develops when small

pieces of tissue from the inner lining of the uterus (called the endometrium)

move up through the Fallopian tubes and become implanted

in and around the organs

located in the abdominal cavity, including the ovaries, Fallopian tubes, rectum

and bladder. In the normal course of a woman's menstrual cycle, the ovaries

secrete hormones that stimulate the cells of the endometrium to multiply and

thicken. This prepares the uterus for successful implantation of a fertilized egg

if conception occurs. If pregnancy does not occur, this excess tissue is excreted

from the body through menstrual bleeding.  Just like the endometrial tissue that remains in the uterus, the "rogue" endometrial cells that have made their way to other organs also respond to the hormones secreted by the ovaries, and swell and thicken. However, unlike the endometrial cells in the uterus, these cells are unable to separate from the tissue to which they have adhered, and are, therefore, never removed from the body. Month after month, the cells swell and thicken, which can cause bleeding, scarring, and the growth of fibrous tissue and cysts. The growth of fibrous tissue can obstruct the ovaries and/or obstruct the Fallopian tubes, resulting in infertility.

For some women, all of this occurs without them knowing anything is wrong. But, other women with endometriosis experience a variety of symptoms, including:

  •  Extremely painful menstrual cramps

  •  Chronic pelvic, abdominal, and/or low back pain

  •  Pain during intercourse

  •  Premenstrual spotting or bleeding between menstrual periods

  •  Painful urination and/or bowel movements during menstrual periods

The exact cause of endometriosis is not yet known, though several theories have been developed. One theory suggests that menstrual blood flows backwards through the Fallopian tubes into the abdominal cavity, carrying with it live

Endometrial cells, which become implanted in various organs in the abdominal cavity. The lymphatic system (the system responsible for removing excess fluids from the body) may also carry endometrial cells away from the uterus and deposit them in other parts of the body. Because endometriosis has a hormonal component, some experts believe that chronic exposure to xenoestrogens (environmental pollutants that mimic the effects of estrogen) may play a role in the development of endometriosis.  And, it appears that endometriosis runs in families, indicating a genetic component to this condition.

Unfortunately, the ideal treatment for endometriosis is also yet to be determined. Pregnancy is one of the best remedies, as it pauses the normal menstrual cycle for an extended period.  And, endometriosis subsides as soon as menopause is reached. Therefore, the medications that are prescribed for this condition are intended to trick the body into thinking it is either pregnant or menopausal.

Whenever appropriate, women with endometriosis are advised to actually become pregnant, which can be challenging due to the infertility issues caused by endometriosis.  While FertilCare for Women is certainly not intended as a means of treating endometriosis, and trying-to-conceive women who suffer from this condition should communicate with their ObGyn to formulate a strategy for becoming pregnant, a number of trying-to-conceive women with endometriosis have reported favorable results with FertilCare.

FertilCare and Irregular Cycles:

Trying to conceive with an irregular cycle presents unique challenges. Most obvious, having an irregular cycle makes identifying your ovulation date — you’re most fertile time of month and the time you're most likely to become pregnant — difficult.

Less obvious, but perhaps more critical, is the fact that an irregular cycle is often indicative of an underlying hormonal imbalance. It is this hormonal imbalance that may actually present the greatest challenge to becoming pregnant. Women with hormonal imbalances may ovulate less frequently than is typical (or not at all), or may experience a shorter luteal phase than is optimal for achieving pregnancy. In all, it is estimated that irregular cycles and abnormal ovulation account for roughly 30 — 40% of all infertility cases.

To be sure, there are a number of prescription-based remedies for an irregular cycle, the most common of which is Clomid. Clomid is generally effective in inducing ovulation and correcting cycle irregularity, and can be taken orally (unlike many other fertility drugs which require regular injections).

As with many prescription drugs, however, taking Clomid comes with its own share of attendant items to consider.

A common side effect of Clomid is increased vaginal dryness and/or the development of "hostile cervical mucus". As cervical mucus is the medium in which sperm must swim to reach the egg, this can impede one's ability to become pregnant. Additionally, women taking prescription fertility drugs such as Clomid are significantly more likely to experience multiple birth, typically in the form of twins. Around 10% of women taking Clomid for infertility will have a multiple gestation pregnancy as compared to just 1% of the regular population.

Before resorting to prescription fertility drugs, many women have begun to explore natural alternatives. FertilCare for Women has become particularly popular with women with irregular cycles, and many indicate that Fertilcare has served to increase their cycle regularity in a manner that has assisted them in achieving pregnancy. (Note that the herbal component of FertilCare is pivotal in yielding this normalizing effect.)
